What a beautiful testament to the intelligence, strength and mutual respect an animal as large as a horse can provide. Your father was a brave young man to take on such a spunky stallion...I am so grateful to be able to read the account of the beginning of an amazing friendship. Thank you so much for your emotional investment in this story and allowing us to also experience. Muwaaa!

Yes!! I can totally get the comparison! Riding at high speed seems like flying (to those of us without wings) and whether your horse is flesh and blood or steel and rubber; there's nothing like sitting astride and the wind streaming through your hair!

I didn't have horses when i was little, but I did have a succession of dirt bikes that gave me the same freedom to ramble about the hills as your dad. Of course I made a lot more noise, polluted the air and never was able to feel the love back that horse returns. But I also didn't have to keep him fed all winter long and shovel his dung. So I can relate to the story in a big way. The horse gave your dad freedom and independence. I especially loved the vintage pictures of highboy.

We all pry could of wrote something like this around that age. I hope that my kids get to live part of there life with horses so they will have stories like this to tell to.

If a person doesn't bathe and no one notices, do they actually stink? It's such a philosophical debate. I am sticking with the fact that he said I didn't, therefore I didn't. (Where's the air freshener?)

Now as to the tree... My OCD will get the best of me for sure and I'll have to fix that.... Ugh
